After probably 60 or 70 miles counting the twists and turns, Sacramento River along with the other major ones I know of: McCloud River, Pit River, and Squaw Creek, all mix together to make Shasta Lake.

On right taken from Shasta Caverns, left is Sacramento River coming into Shasta Lake.

This Picture is the main focus of Sacramento River.  The 3 Shastas.
Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, and Mt. Shasta, where Sacramento River started.

Sacramento River from Shasta Dam goes in to Keswick Lake and is joined with water out of Trinity Lake, which goes into Lewiston Lake then into Whiskeytown Lake then is pumped over the hill into Keswick Lake. Clear Creek runs into Whiskeytown Lake, then again is Clear Creek when it comes out of the lake and goes into Sacramento River.  So Whiskeytown Lake is part of Sacramento River.

We are now at Red Bluff where the Sacramento River becomes a Lake at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam.  Where the water now goes to water more farmland in Tehama Co.

And from there Sacramento River just keeps growing. Going through 10 Counties touching lives, before going into the ocean under the Golden Gate Bridge.

So if we notice, Sacramento River is like everything else, it isn't one little river, it's a bunch all ran together.  Picks up bits and pieces along the way to make it what it is.
