After this manner therefore pray ye: Our
Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew
6:9-13
The Lord's Prayer Part
4
And forgive us our debts,
(our sins)
as we forgive our debtors.
(people who have wronged us)
Jesus went on to explain in Matthew 6:15
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father
forgive your trespasses.
That means how can we receive what we won't give.
So...
This part could be rephrased to say
Help us to forgive people, so You can forgive us
our sins.
Most often unforgiveness will make us sick, and whoever or
whatever we are not forgiving will never even be aware, or not care, that
we haven't forgiven.
What a waste of feeling good!
And by not forgiving we have given them power
over us.
(I for one hate that part!)
