After this manner therefore pray ye: Our
Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew
6:9-13
The Lord's PrayerPart 1
Jesus said to pray this way:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Pray to the Father God, who we cannot see.
Not our earthly father, not the preacher, not the priest.
Now that takes great faith! Maybe that
is why Jesus commanded us to pray that way, it would prove our trust in
God.
Hallowed be thy name.
Hallowed:
-
To make or set apart as holy.
-
To respect or honor greatly; revere.
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth
into it, and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10
Just the mention of His name
can bring peace.
"Lord God Almighty" or
"Jesus"
Can we imagine how we would feel if someone used
our name to swear?
