What is Our Talent?

Matthew 25:15-24 The Kingdom of Heaven is Like a man going into a far country.
And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. ... And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. ... He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. ... Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. ... Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

The Bible refers to talents as money, but let's look at the things money can't buy. In Luke the same story says He told them to occupy until His return. In other words live our lives as unto God.

No big or small talents when done as unto the Lord!
 
Things are given to us according to our ability.
I have no desire to be in a place of authority!
 
5 talents -  The person doing great things, Evangelists like Billy Graham, or Pastors
 
2 talents - The people behind the scenes, supporters, teachers, singers, or prayer warriors 
 
1 talent - The spot of decision.  The encourger, or the faithful pew filler.
 
Because it is seems so small do we use it or hide it?   If we use it, soon it's 2 talents. 
Using it. -  By being there giving a smile or a kind word gives the pastor incredible freedom to do his job without having to worry about the little things. 
-OR-
Hiding it - quit going or doing because it is so small nobody notices anyway.

The 1 talent would never have been given if it was not important.  So don't hide it.
Maybe you only have a big smile, use it.
Maybe you are a good listener, use it. 
Maybe you iron clothes well, use it! 
We don't need a big talent to be important.
