Asking

Be not ye therefore like unto them: (people that think much asking will get the answer) for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Matthew 6:8

So often we ask for what we think we want,
but God knows that will not get us what we really want.
Or that tomorrow we'll change our mind.
Or sometimes He is just waiting for us to ask.
If God gives to us before we ask,
we may never even recognize He did it.
Often God does not give us things because they will be harmful to us.
It is the parents job to train a child.  We shouldn't give a small child a knife to play with just because they ask.  They shouldn't let them to eat cake and cookies only just because that's what they like.
So it is true with God.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7
The condition is we have to abide in God.  Trust Him with out life.
If God does not answer, He always has something better planned.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. James 4:3
If we ask for wisdom, we will trust God more with our life.
Solomon was also given riches because he only asked for wisdom.

 The bottom line is:
Do we trust God to know what is best for us?
