There was a man caught in a  flood, the water was going into his house.  He prayed, and believed.  A rescuer came by in a small rubber raft and asked him if he wanted a ride to safety.  The man said no, God would save him.  The rescuer and his raft moved on to other victims, while the man climbed the stairs to stay out of the rising water.

As the water was lapping at the top stair in his two story house, he prayed again, "Lord save me" and believed.  Shortly after another rescuer comes by in a motorboat, asks the man if he wanted a ride to safety.  The man again said no, God would save him.  So the rescuer went on to assist other victims, as the man climbed on his roof because the water had gotten into that level too.

While sitting on the roof, having lost everything, he again prayed.  Still believing.  A helicopter came by threw him a rope, he refused saying, "God will save me."  The helicopter flew on, and the man drowned.

When the man saw God he asked why didn't you save me?  God replied, "Well, I sent a raft, you refused,  I then sent a motor boat, again you refused, so I sent a helicopter.  But because the answer was not the way you expected it to be, you refused my help."

~~~ How many times have we refused a blessing because it was not what we expected it to be?  We are short money, a friend invites us to lunch, we refuse because we don't want to impose.   We are extremely tired, a friend offers to wash our dishes, we refuse, for oh, so many reasons.  And the list could go on! ~~~
