Until then . . .
Words and music by Stuart Hamblen  © 1958

Chorus

But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.

To accomplish that it takes a made up mind!

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15

Refrain 1

My heart can sing when I pause to remember
A heartache here is but a stepping stone
Along a trail that's winding always upward,
This troubled world is not my final home.

If we don't have more to look forward to after death, we would be like Paul when he said :

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 1 Corinthians 15:19

And if we are wrong what have we lost? But what if we are right??

Refrain 2

The things of earth will dim and lose their value
If we recall they're borrowed for awhile;
And things of earth that cause the heart to tremble,
Remembered there will only bring a smile.

Most of us can look back and remember a place of sorrow,
that we see how God brought us through.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8

Refrain 3

This weary world with all its toil and struggle
May take its toll of misery and strife;
The soul of man is like a waiting falcon;
When it's released, it's destined for the skies.

 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

How will we be remembered?
Did we put on a smile through the hard times?

Chorus

But until then my heart will go on singing,
Until then with joy I'll carry on,
Until the day my eyes behold the city,
Until the day God calls me home.
