Train up a child in the way he should go: and when
he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
We have always looked at that in reference to young children,
but let's look again.
It takes discipline to be the person we need to be.
We are the child that need training.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are
the children of God: Romans 8:16

Once a child is born it needs training to become
productive.
Every job we do needs some training. There
is nothing we just know.
We are born with the instinct to survive, everything
else is learned.
We have to do the hard work, the training.
We can't do it just once, we have to do it always.
It's like washing our clothes, they don't stay clean.

These are some things we
need to train ourselves in.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy
communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that
ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man,
which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
Colossians 3:8-10
