God's Mercy in Action
God's Mercy is for us too! Not just Peter!

~
Peter had great faith he said if you're real say so and I'll walk on the water with you.
And he (Jesus) said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to jesus. Matthew 14:29
When Peter started to fall Jesus streached out His hand and caught him.
But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.  And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Matthew 14:30-29

Later Jesus had began to talk about what was going to happen to Him, God's plan for His life.
Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.  But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Matthew 16:22-23
Peter was refusing to accept the things Jesus said, he didn't want Jesus to talk about His death. By not believing Him, Peter was being discouraging.

Then when Jesus was arrested, Peter denied he even knew Jesus.  He came back and asked forgiveness.  Jesus said if you love Me feed my sheep.
He saith to him again the second time, Simon (Peter), son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, feed my sheep. John 21:16
In other words, encourage My children. Lead them through the hard places.
No matter how many times Peter did something that didn't seem right, because he asked forgiveness, Jesus used him!
We are the same way, our past means nothing to God.  In fact we don't even have one after we have asked forgiveness, it's been erased.
