Gift of Salvation
Just being good is not enough, we have all sinned.
In our own self we are not good.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  Romans 3:23

God stepped in and made a way for us to be redeemed.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
We are a whosoever.

It's like a coat, we have to put it on.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9

It doesn't matter who or what we are, it is for us!

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Romans 10:13

If we have accepted Jesus and His provision, then when we face death in this world we shall be ushered into everlasting life.

There would be a lot more people following God if we could earn, or buy God's forgiveness.  But we have to accept it.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 5:24

There is nothing too big for God to forgive.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9

All the do's and don'ts that we think are rules for salvation are not.
They are guidelines to make our life easier while we are walking on this earth.
God has no desire to smack us, He wants to help us.
