John 3:16 & 17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

For God so loved the world,
That means the people not the planet.

that he gave his only begotten Son,
He gave us His very best.  He had already given every other thing. that was His prized possession, His very Life. But because sin had taken over He knew there was no other way to redeem the people.

that whosoever
That means us, me, I, you, we, anybody.

believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This is the tricky part.  that word "should" is not a guarantee.  I believe an airplane can fly, but if I don't get in it I can't go. Same with Jesus just believing He is won't do it, we have to put ourselves in His hand and trust Him with our life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
Many people think God is waiting for us to make a mistake so He can get us, NOT so.  He gave us His all in love.

but that the world through him
might be saved.
He gave His Son (Jesus) so if we go through Him we can be saved.  There is no sin too big for the Blood of Jesus to cover!  All we have to do is ask.
