Good Intentions
What good are they?
Start this year trying to put away good intentions. That doesn't mean don't have them, it means don't tell people we will until we can.

Have you ever sat at home waiting for
someone to show up because they said
they would?
Then later they say "I never said I would,
I said I'd like to."
That wasn't what we heard.

Disappointment because they didn't come. -  Distrust of the next time they say something.

Have you ever been in a store to buy
something and someone says don't
buy that I have one at home I'll give you?
Two days later we call them and they
say "Oh I forgot to dig it out."  If we didn't
want it we wouldn't have been in the store
buying it!

Anger at them stopping us, then not bothering to follow through.
Distrust of the next time they say something.

Have you ever had to do something that
someone else said they would do and
didn't?  The person who volunteers to get
gift donations for a fund raiser, doesn't.
The week before the event no gifts and
other people have to scurry to fill in.
They say "Oh I got busy and forgot."

Distrust of the next time they say something.

Let's not be the one who causes the hurt, disappointment or distrust.

But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.  He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first.
Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.  Matthew 21:28 - 31
