Man After God's Heart
In this instance man means human, not gender.

And when he had removed him, (Saul) he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
Acts 13:22

David the man after God's own heart

Never searched for the limelight.
. . . When he was crowned King he was out on the mountain herding sheep

Had confidence in God.
. . . When he stood before Goliath the giant he came in the faith of the Lord.

Didn't seek revenge.
. . . Saul was hunting him to kill him. David cut off a piece of Saul's robe,
      later repented for it.

Didn't find someone to blame.
. . .  He  didn't blame anyone for his sin. When Adam sinned he blamed the
woman, and the woman blamed the serpent.  And the serpent tried to
       justify it.

Was quick to repent.
. . . When he sinned he didn't try to justify it.  When Adam and Eve sinned
       they hid.

If Adam and Eve would have been quick to repent, instead of blame
they may have been forgiven and not kicked out of the garden.

God Looks at our heart, we can fool people but not God!
Are We what we say we are?

(when Samuel was going to anoint a king. Samuel wanted David's brother)

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the
height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not
as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD
looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

Oh to be considered that!
